BOATNIK Is Food, Rides, Games, Live Music, Sprint Boat Racing, Drag Boats And The World-Famous Tom Rice Memorial White Water Hydroplane Race For Total Family Fun
Since 1959, The Grants Pass Active Club has held Boatnik every Memorial Day weekend along Southern Oregon's Rogue River in Grants Pass, where white-water adventurers compete for large prizes over a perilous 50-mile course.
The activities start Thursday in Riverside Park with the Davis Shows Carnival featuring food, rides, games and family fun. The carnival begins at 1:00 pm Thursday afternoon and runs until midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, ending at 8:00 pm on Monday. On Friday the fun continues at the riverfront park and includes a spectacular fireworks display on the river. Saturday morning finds visitors and locals alike flocking to the well-known Boatnik parade that travels through the streets of downtown and ends at Riverside Park.
Throughout the entire weekend the festivities continue in the park where there are a whirlwind of activities: Sprint and Drag boat racing, carnival rides, arts and crafts booths, the Papa John's pizza eating contest, Bingo, kid's activities, the 5k Freedom Run, Men's Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament, Monday Sundaes free ice-cream sundaes for everyone, the Chevy Drive It Home Golf Shoot Out, where entrants have a shot to win a new Chevrolet provided by Jim Sigel Automotive in Grants Pass, food vendors and a second night of patriotic fireworks. For the adults, Boatnik presents The Rogue Valley Wine & Brewfest offering those 21 and over a taste of Southern Oregon's best wines and microbrews.
Monday is the highlight of Boatnik, featuring the World Famous Tom Rice Memorial White Water Hydroplane Race. Thousands of locals and visitors from around the world come to share the tradition and unique experience of Boatnik.
For more than 50 years families have enjoyed this five day event that supports the children and youth programs of the communities of Southern Oregon.
All funds raised by the Grants Pass Active Club from Boatnik are returned to the community by supporting local children and youth programs.
