Britt Music & Arts Festival Draws Top Musical Acts of All Genres To The Hills Of Jacksonville And The Britt Amphitheater
Britt Music & Arts Festival is the Pacific Northwest's premier outdoor summer performing arts festival. Located in the historic 1850's gold rush town of Jacksonville, Oregon, Britt presents dozens of summer concerts, featuring world-class artists in classical music, jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, world, pop and country music.
Britt's performance venue is a naturally formed amphitheater set among majestic ponderosa pines and native madrones on the beautiful hillside estate of 19th century photographer Peter Britt. In this incredible natural setting with great acoustics, the Britt offers reserved seating, first come, first served lawn seating—with lots of room for picnicking with family and friends, and premium lawn seating that is wheelchair accessible.
Tens of thousands of music lovers travel from all over the West to enjoy Britt's world-class performances, spectacular scenery and casual, relaxing atmosphere.
In addition, every August opens the Britt Orchestra season that features a professional orchestra of 90 musicians who come from all over the United States for a three-week stay in Southern Oregon. Internationally renowned guest artists join the orchestra to present a series of extraordinary concerts under a canopy of stars. Prior to each orchestra concert, there are informal pre-concert conversations in Britt's Performance Garden for those who want to learn a little more about the music and composers.
The Britt Pavilion amphitheater is in a residential area of Jacksonville, perched atop a hill, with very limited parking and a moderate walk from parking to the Britt Festival. A free trolley runs from both parking areas to the main gate at fifteen minute intervals up to the time the concert starts.
Concertgoers are permitted to bring food and drink, including beer and wine, into most Britt concerts, and there are also concession stands providing a variety of food and drinks. Blankets and chairs are also permitted, providing the chairs meet Britt's request of having back legs that are no longer than 4 inches. Britt also rents small chairs.
