Starts, buses, finish and registration

The four races share a finish at Jackson County Expo, 21 Peninger Road in Central Point, but they do not share a start. The marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. at Emigrant Lake County Park near Ashland; the half marathon starts at 8 a.m. at Blue Heron Park in Phoenix; the 10K starts at 8 a.m. from the south parking lot at Bear Creek Park in Medford; and the kids mile starts at 11 a.m. at the Expo. The kids race is for runners younger than 13.

Park at the Expo and take the bus

The organizer directs runners to park at the Expo. Marathon buses leave at 5:15, 5:25, 5:35, 5:40 and 5:45 a.m.; 5:45 a.m. is the final marathon bus. Half-marathon buses leave between 6:30 and 7 a.m., with 7 a.m. the last bus. 10K buses leave at 6, 6:30 and 7 a.m., with 7 a.m. the last bus. There is no return bus to any start, so driving to a start leaves no race-provided ride back to the vehicle.

Packet pickup is Friday, October 9, from 4–7 p.m. at Common Block Brewing, 315 E. Fifth Street in Medford. A runner who cannot attend may collect a bib at the start, but the organizer advises taking the earliest bus; race shirts will be available at the finish. There is no race-day registration.

Registration and cutoff details

Race Roster currently lists online registration through October 8. Prices displayed on October 5 were $158.18 for the marathon, $121.88 for the half marathon, $81.18 for the 10K and $16.29 for the kids mile. Recheck the registration page before purchase because capacity and processing totals can change.

The marathon has a six-hour limit. Marathoners must reach Blue Heron Park, mile 15.6, by 11:05 a.m.; the course closes at 1:30 p.m. The organizer lists no cutoff for the half marathon or 10K. The first marathon miles use Highway 66, which remains open to traffic. Awards are scheduled around 1 p.m. at the Expo.

Watching the race

The organizer recommends Bear Creek Park, Hawthorne Park and the Crater Lake Ford area for spectators. Blue Heron Park, Lithia Fields and the Medford Dog Park also offer viewing for marathon and half-marathon runners; Lynn Newbry Park is a marathon-only option. Check the course maps before choosing a viewing point and avoid blocking runners or traffic.
