Select the route before comparing prices

Ask each outfitter which stretch it runs and whether the product is rafting, another kind of boat trip or a riverside activity. Compare total time away from your car with time on the water. Two trips with the same river name can involve different meeting points, rapids and shuttle arrangements. Confirm the trip directly with the operator before assuming a directory listing is bookable.

Bring the group's details to the booking

Tell the operator the ages in your party and any participation or access needs. Ask what equipment and clothing are provided, how passengers are fitted for flotation gear, and what to bring. Confirm meals, water, bags and transport in the quoted price. If a river trip does not suit the group, a Riverside Park outing is a separate land-based option.

Check permits and current river status

BLM's permit page is the starting point for Wild Section arrangements and availability. It also carries a Moon Complex fire notice and directs permitted boaters to Smullin Visitor Center for river status. Use current agency notices and the operator's confirmation before traveling; do not infer an open river from an old trip description.

Finish the shuttle and overnight plan

Know where the vehicle will be at the end and who provides the return. For an overnight trip, confirm camping arrangements, gear, meal handling and itinerary with the operator or permit office. A public launch is not automatically an overnight campground. Use the camping guide if you need a separate developed campsite near Grants Pass.
