What the walk involves
Use the monument's BLM hiking brochure and PCT access information to reach the volcanic landmark. A hike to the base and a summit attempt are materially different trips; the final summit requires exposed scrambling and is not a routine walking path.

What makes this trail distinct
The rock is a recognizable feature of the Siskiyou skyline. Check seasonal wildlife protections and the current access route before traveling, and turn around below the scramble if that terrain is outside your plan.
